So my Family has individual Apple Music plans as we all signed up at different times. We are looking at switching to a family plan but don’t want to loose our music and playlists we have created. If we switch will we loose the music we have each download?

When you set up Family Sharing you each keep your own Apple ID, because all your purchases and playlist are associated with the Apple ID, you will not loose anything. The following support article provides some more information about Family Sharing:
