Question: 2012 Retina MacBook Pro stuck in frustrating restart loop
Mac has SSD drive. I don't care about losing data, I just want this working. It was updated to Catalina, worked for a couple weeks and now:
- keeps restarting to black screen
- When it does boot into the sign in screen, it shows my username, I enter password, it starts loading and restarts into black screen again after halfway mark
- NVRAM reset per apple instructions did not help
- Command R does not bring up utilities mode to check the disk
- Created a bootable USB drive with Catalina. It loads boot options with Options key and sees the bootable usb. It starts installing Catalina and then fails after two minutes and goes back to black screen or to sign in screen.
- Hardware diagnostic test while holding key D fails and gives this error message: Error: 8000000000000003, Cannot load 'EFI/Drivers/TestSupport.efi' Status: 0x00000003
- I am able to press Command S and get into the screen where I seed a bunch of code and I can enter commands
What should I do? I want to restart Catalina somehow
