Hi everyone. I got an iMac7.1 intel Core 2 Duo. Recently purchased a hard disc on Amazon to upgrade to snow leopard, but my imac isnt opening the disc. I've been looking everywhere to purchase ir but haven't had any luck, I search apple website and dont see it. Help please!
And if its an Apple disk, is it the grey one or the white one?
It needs to be the white retail disk.
Grey disks are keyed to the system they shipped with and will not work with other macs.
Also, are you certain the CD drive in the Mac still works? Can it see other disks?

Is that a burned disc?
The color we are looking for is the label color if the disc has one.
Apple no longer sells Snow Leopard discs unfortunately, so your only option is to find them on Ebay or similar online retailers.

Unfortunately it looks like it was copied.
I had reset the imac so the original disk still worked
If you have an install USB (no actual discs for 10.7 where made), yes, you can update directly to 10.7, without going through 10.6.
If you don't then you need 10.6.8 to get the App Store to download 10.7 from.
I have an iMac mid 2007 version. I have completely clean the hard drive. was going to sell but decided to upgrade instead. The original OS that came with the machine is 10.4.10, the highest version it can take is 10.11.6. I want to start with Snow Leopard. Is that advisable?

If you have the install disc for it then yes. Its fine. All other updates will need to be obtained from the Mac App Store.
You can update directly to 10.11 el Capitan from 10.6.8 Snow Leopard.
Yes, there is a small door on the underside of the iMac you can open, and insert the new Ram modules very easily.

If I am running on 10.5.8 can I upgrade straight to 10.7? Without going through 10.6? I am compatible with 10.7 just dont have 10.6 disc
Is it relatively simple to upgrade from 1g-6g of RAM on that iMac?
