Why can you not get internet access on the iPhone? You will need to correct that before you are able to add the account back. If you have sporadic internet, that could also explain why you have trouble getting your mail.

Well, I'm not in the US, and I can't say what's going on there. But today (perhaps due to this terrible lockdown period) cellular networks and Internet connections are very stressed here in Italy, producing many blackouts.

Have you checked with yahoo their e-mail parameters, such as IMAP, SMTP and so on?

I read of several issues with Yahoo mail yesterday as well, with similar descriptions to yours. It would seem that Yahoo is having issues again. They have major issues on almost a regular basis, causing these large outages. Yahoo should be able to check your account, however, until you get internet back on your phone, you will not be able to add the account back, as I indicated before.

You can perform this test procedure to check your wifi network Internet access capability:

• Put your iPhone on Airplane mode (so that cellular data are not used)
• Enable your wifi connection
• Try browsing some websites using Safari, or try streaming a video using Youtube.

Ahh... that's a problem.

Being connected to a wifi network, doesn't necessarily mean that that network has the Internet Access.

Let's try this:

• Disconnect your iPhone from your wifi network.
• Turn off your modem router for at least 5 minutes, then turn it back on, and wait for its complete auto-configuration.
• Reconnect your iPhone to your wifi network, and repeat the test procedure I suggested in my provious post.

Then let me know how it goes.
