EarPods are the wired headsets that are included in the box when you buy an iPhone. Nowadays, they have a lightning connector which is not found on a Mac. You'd need an adapter. You'd be better off just buying new headphones that will work with your Mac.
Only Bluetooth headphones are "paired".
