I just bought a new iPhone 7 and really like it because I had and iPhone 5c and realized it was obsolete in updates. How long does the iPhone 7 have before it will no longer get updates?

No one can tell you as no one here works for Apple. We are all users. If history repeats, iPhone 6, stopped receiving updates when iPhone 11 was released. iPhone 6s "may" stop receiving updates with iPhone 12 is released. iPhone 7 would be next to stop receiving updates, possibley when iPhone 13 is released. That would be at least two years from now. But again, this is only based on history and we cannot give you a definitive answer at all.
This is a user-to-user forum; no one here can answer that question. You can try asking Apple, but they probably won’t tell you either.
Sorry, never posted on here before, but that makes sense, I obviously do not pay attention that much since My first phone was a 5c and I have no clue what number iPhone is on now. But thanks for your response.
