MacBook Pro Microphone Cuts Out

I bought a MacBook Pro in early December and have been having issues with calls. Whether I'm using FaceTime, Discord, or Zoom, my mic sometimes cuts out and people are constantly asking me to repeat myself. I have tried using different headphones and changing mic sensitivity in certain apps, but this does not solve the problem. I have not had this problem on any other device. Apple support recommended that I make sure I was using update Catalina, so I updated, but it solved nothing. Is this a common problem with the MacBook Pro? If so, how do I fix it? Or do I need to use my Apple Care to get a new computer?

Hi mccaky,

Thanks for coming to Apple Support Communities for help today with your MacBook Pro and mic sensitivity. Let's try isolating this issue a little further. You did a great job trying different headphones already.

Does the issue occur with the built-in mic: Change the sound input settings on Mac?

Does the issue occur inside a new user account with the external and internal mics? This can let us know if the issue is isolated to your user or system-wide. Here's How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac.

Have a fantastic day!
