Insurance in other countries

Hello, I have two questions regarding insurance.

  1. I was wondering if the anti-theft and apple care that I get in the US are applicable in other countries such as the UK as well. Would the insurance work if my computer gets stolen outside of the US?
  2. If my computer was stolen before the apple care duration was terminated, then would I be able to transfer my apple care from the stolen computer to the newly purchased computer?

Thank you!

The special anti theft coverage is available for iPhones only. The theft protection is actual insurance and administered by a third party company.

The regular Applecare+ is not considered insurance, but rather an extension of the regular 1 year warranty. You will need to check with Apple regarding the product you are buying and the countries involved. The Applecare+ includes that warranty service may be restricted to the country of purchase for iDevices; computers are generally covered globally.

And, if your computer is stolen, Applecare will not cover it. You need to make sure you have homeowners insurance. If it is replaced due to a mfr's defect, then no, you cannot transfer your Applecare because the terms of it have been satisfied - you made a claim and Apple replaced it. You will need to buy Applecare again when you get the new computer.
