Question: iPad won't restart after restoring settings

hi,

I have a 6 year old iPad whose storage capacity was reached. I could not access photos anymore for instance. I decided to completely reset it - but was unable to choose that option. I could choose to reset the settings and thought I'd start there after a back-up. I did - and now (almost 24h after starting) it stays stuck with the apple on the screen, progress bar full and nothing happening anymore. If I plug it in my computer, it is not detected. I tried forced shutdown (home button and off button together for a few seconds): the apple appeared again on screen, progress bar started again and stopped when full - and it stays again frozen there. Any ideas please? Thanks!

Answer:

If iPad isn’t responding, do one of the following:

  • On an iPad with a Home button: Press and hold the top button and the Home button at the same time. When the Apple logo appears, release both buttons.
  • On an iPad with Face ID: Press and quickly release the volume up button, press and quickly release the volume down button, then press and hold the top button. When the Apple logo appears, release the button.

If your iPad doesn’t turn on, or if it gets stuck during start up, see the Apple Support article If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won’t turn on or is frozen.
