Question: Restore from Time Machine
How long should restore from backup take? My restore has taken 16 hours and is less than 10% done; should I be concerned something is wrong?

That is a little long. I would be concerned there could be a problem. How large a backup are you trying to restore?
It was about 1.25 TB. The estimate kept climbing (up to 160 hours remaining at 10% done). So I decided to cancel it and try again with a different backup. Fingers crossed for now.
Did you use a USB 2.0 drive? it's the only reason to take so long...
Instead you can perform a fresh-new installation of Mac OS and then recover data with the integrated Migration Assistant on Mac OS.
Best regards
Marco
The time machine backup is on a USB 3 drive. Second attempt has similarly slowed to crawl between 7-10%, estimating 130+ more hours. Perhaps I will try a OS installation and then try to install the backup, as you suggest, at least it’s something else to try.
