Question: App Store on Macboook

Is there a way of telling exactly which App Store region is being opened on my MacBook?

I've followed all the standard advice and checked the location of my profile and it says UK. I did take it to China for a year and attempted location changes to make it appear I was somewhere other than the UK but I wasn't successful and as far as I'm aware it's exactly the same as before I left the UK.

What makes me wonder that things aren't right is that some apps don't appear in the store when I think they should. An example is ExpressVPN, and Astrill VPN is another. Is there an app search or something that can tell me for certain which region my App Store is set to?

Any help gratefully received.

Thanks.

Hello si_aldworth,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!

I understand from your post that you would like to know what region your App Store is set to. The region of the App Store is linked to the country or region your Apple ID is set up with. This article has steps on what to do if you want to change your country or region but will also provide you with information about what is affected when changing regions:

Thanks for the reply but this doesn't help I'm afraid. As I said in my post, my profile in App Store says UK and the link you gave doesn't actually says in detail what is changed and what isn't. What I'm looking for is the reason why some apps that should show up in the UK App Store don't appear. I gave some examples in my post.

Regards.

si_aldworth,

This article has information what what you need to do if there is an app or apps that you do not see available in the App Store you are currently using.

Availability of Apple Media Services - Apple Support

"Depending on your country or region, you might not be able to buy or download certain types of media. The availability and features of certain apps, movies, and more can vary. If you think an app or other media should be available in your country or region, contact the developer or publisher directly."

Take Care.

Hello,

This isn't much use I'm afraid. I know that I can get App Store in the UK on my MacBook. The point I am trying to make but is being missed is that there are some very readily available apps not being shown in App Store on my MacBook.

I've given two examples in my original post. If you would care to look up either of them for me on your device and confirm they are both available to you then you will hopefully understand why it's so odd that they aren't visible to me.

Thanks.
