Question: IOS 12 & 13 not working with Uconnect

Hello, I drive a 2018 Jeep Wrangler with a Uconnect 3 w/5 inch display. The bluetooth connects, but I recieve delays when playing music and using voice control. When I plug my phone to the USB ports, the radio shorts out and resets itself. It will play a song till about 1 min 20 sec in an shut off completely and reset all my settings. What can I do for this when everything is updated?

Hey there, Matt.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities! Thanks for your question involving the infotainment software package in your vehicle not working quite as expected with your iPhone. I'd be happy to see how I can help.

To get us started, you mentioned that everything was up-to-date. Did you mean both your iPhone and the UConnect system, or just your iPhone? I was able to find this link that may be helpful in updating your vehicle, if needed: Software Update - UConnect

As far as Bluetooth delays, tell me more about those. How much of a delay are you seeing? for the wired connectivity, are you using an Apple certified cable or another cable you have? You may also benefit from forgetting the iPhone on your stereo and trying once more.

Have a great day.

Yes, my iPhone 7 plus and the infortainment system are up to date. The delays occur when I change songs or Pandora stations. It will say “loading” instead of the song and title. The cable used are the ones that come with the iphones after purchase them.

Got it. When was the last time everything did work correctly? For the issue involving plugging in using the USB cable and the radio stopping after about 90 seconds, have you tested with a different cable too see if the same issue occurs? If not, try that out if one is available, and report back with your findings.

For the issue with Bluetooth and delays, you might try forgetting the vehicle on your iPhone and forgetting your iPhone in your vehicle. To do that in your iPhone, go to Settings > Bluetooth and tap the blue 'I' and choose Forget Device. If you need help removing your iPhone from your vehicle, check the owner's manual or work with the manufacturer directly.

If that doesn't work, go to Settings > General > About and temporarily rename your device and attempt a Bluetooth connection again.

Let me know what you find out.

Thanks for that info, Matt.

Based on what you've already tried and we've tried here together, it sounds like you might want to Contact Apple Support and work with them directly on this moving forward. They should be able to assist you with this to completion.

Take care.
