Pages: border under header

Pages 10.0 has 3 fields for the header & footer: that's fine, but how do I add a border under the header & above the footer, that goes the whole width of the page, not just under the text, like I used to be able to do?

Apple does not adhere to the concept of used too. However, with some trickery, you can add the the lines where you want them.

  1. View menu : Show Layout
  2. Shape tool : Line
    1. Arrange panel : Text Wrap : None.
    2. In the Style panel, set color and line size
    3. Grap one end of the line, and rotate so horizontal.
    4. Extend to each document body border line
    5. Move to position at bottom of the header panel
    6. Duplicate (⌘+D), and drag the duplicate line to the preferred footer location.
  3. Select both lines (press shift key)
    1. Arrange menu : Section Masters : Move Objects to Section Master
  4. View menu : Hide Layout

Once you have done the above, the lines are background fixtures in your document for the current, and subsequent sections.
