Hi JacobFon,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. It sounds like you’re having trouble with your iPhone in the car. I’m happy to help.

To start, I suggest making sure you’re running the latest iOS version (iOS 13):

Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

Then, I suggest unpairing your phone from the car. You can do so by tapping Settings > Bluetooth > [Car] > Forget This Device. Then, follow the steps in the article below for connecting again:

How to connect your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to your car - Apple Support

If the above doesn’t help, reach out to your car manufacturer or read your manual for making sure you have the latest firmware updates.

If you do, and the issue persists, contact Apple Support.

Have a great day.

Hi JacobFon,

Thanks for the additional information. Since only your iPhone seems to be affected, I would like to have you further isolate potential causes by trying the suggestions below. Test if there's any change in behavior after each step:

  • If your iPhone has a case, remove it.
  • Turn off Wi-Fi from Settings > Wi-Fi.
  • If enabled, turn off Wi-Fi Calling from Settings > Phone.
  • Turn off VoLTE from Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data Options.
  • Turn off Cellular Data from Settings > Cellular.
  • Go to Settings > Bluetooth > [Car] > Forget This Device once more.
  • Reset the car stereo to factory defaults. You may need to consult your car stereo manual for the steps to do this.
  • Forget any additional Bluetooth accessories the iPhone may be paired with.

If you're still experiencing the audio quality issues after trying those steps, you’ll want to contact Apple Support.

Take care.

Thanks for your response. I have tried everything you mentioned. However I still have the same problem. The person I call can hear me but I cannot hear them. The voice keeps breaking up. It used to work Pete you until I updated to ios11. My daughter has the latest iPhone and it works fine with her phone. The technician had the iPhone max and it works fine with his phone too as also with all android phones. On checking community discussions I find others also have a similar problem to mine.
