I just updated my MacBook Pro and lost the ability to use iDVD - I need that option. How do I get it back?

The only way to get back iDVD is to revert your system to what you upgraded from according to this Apple document: Revert your Mac to a previous macOS version - Apple Support. iDVD was discontinued about 5 years ago.
To keep Catalina you'll have to find and use a video DVD authoring application that will work with Catalina. Go to the App Store and do a search for "video DVD". You'll find a number of candidates. Many have demo versions you can try before purchasing. Be warned that none are as intuitive and versatile as iDVD was.
Another option would be to get an external hard drive (SSD is preferable) and restore your previous system to it so you can boot into it whenever you need to use iDVD or the older 32 big apps. I do that with this setup:
