Pairing apple watch 5 with ipad air (2019)

I want to buy apple watch 5, but there is only iPad Air (2019), so can I pair them with an iPad?

You cannot pair an Apple Watch with an iPad. It requires an iPhone. For the Series 5 Watch, it requires an iPhone 6s or above with iOS 13 or above.
