Apple Watch Oximeter and COVID Pneumonia Detection

I have just read a NYT article from 4/20/2020 “The Infection That’s Silently Killing Coronavirus Patients” in which an ER doctor details his experience in finding extraordinarily low blood oxygen levels in patients some of whom presented with no symptoms of COVID. He suggests that an oximeter can be used for early detection.

I read that the Apple Watch contains code that could potentially be updated to turn all of our thousands (millions?) of Apple Watches into these potentially life-saving tools. Be the heroes and make this happen :)
