Trond BT - Duo 2 in 1 Bluetooth V5.0 Transmitter and Receiver

When I first got this Bluetooth device it was to transmit from my iPod classic through this device to my Airpods. I initially got it to connect right away. The airpods worked almost instantly. Now I can't get the airpods to pair with the Trond unit. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to make this set up work. I initially purchased the Trond device to pair with my iPod Classic. At least I don't think this device is bluetooth.
