Encryption algorithm and key length for IOS Pages encrypted documents After reading the article About the security content of Pages 6.1, Numbers 4.1, and Keynote 7.1 for Mac and Pages 3.1, Numbers 3.1, and Keynote 3.1 for iOS – Apple Support (UK), I couldn't figure out the encryption algorithm and key length used for password protected documents in IOS Pages. Password protection in Numbers does this encrypt your document? In Numbers you can set password protection on a document. Is it just password protection or is the document also encrypted? If the document isn't encrypted, is an alternative method to encrypt your document available?

Since 2007 I believe, password protecting a word or Xcel document encrypts it.

While you can protect a document in Office with a password, you cannot encrypt it. I cannot speak to Pages, I don't use it.
