Application Installer Keeps Opening Despite Having Already Installed

You have to take your mouse and physically drag and drop that G. Chrome onto that alias of the App folder.

That will automatically install in the Applications folder for you.

Then you can delete the .dmg and Chrome Volume off the Desktop.

Remove the old icon from the dock.

Drag a new Chrome from your Applications folder back to the Dock.

If you can not launch Chrome from the Applications Folder itself— then you do have a problem, and a new icon down on the Dock will be a moot point.

Just delete the .dmg or .pkg installer after the application is installed. Also, make sure that the installer is genuine because it could be malware. Gatekeeper should show a prompt telling you where the file was downloaded from and when.
