Netflix not working on any browser

I can't get netflix to load on any browser. I always get the message 'ERR_Connection_Refused'. Every other website works fine, other than Disney Plus which won't load. It doesn't come up with the same error code, just continually loads. Very occasionally, netflix will work for a short time, but then stop again. I have tried clearing the cache, browser history etc, and tried on incognito as well as on firefox, safari and chrome. Recently, it started working again for a short period when I downloaded Microsoft silverlight, then again when I enabled flash on the netflix site, and once again when I used Ctrl + R once it was loading. However, I have tried doing these things again to get it to work and they haven't worked.

It works on all other devices in the house, so don't think it is the wifi.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Netflix website does not use Silverlight OR Shockwave Flash (I use Firefox which sandboxes Plug-ins and demands "Allowing" them for each site = I get NO barking)
"Intermittent" indicates something ... well ... intermittent - VERY difficult to troubleshoot much less fix

You seem to have tried most (all?) of the recommended troubleshooting steps I saw

Do not be afraid to ask for a SUPERVISOR if the 1st responder gets stumped

Be sure and tell them that it is ISOLATED to your MAC

Thanks for the reply, but this has been a problem since before lockdown. Is just now more frustrating as I want to watch netflix on my laptop!

I don't have any issues on my phone, TV, or any of my family's devices. Just my laptop so it is bizzarre and probably not connection related.

Consider that these two sites may well be "overwhelmed" with requests since (nearly) everyone is at home watching

It is likely that they both are using the same "regional" Content Delivery Network (CDN) "server farm" for your area

FWIW, I have no issues with Netflix on my PC, my Smart TV app or my iPhone app = North Texas
