Using fingerprint as ID

My IPad will not recognize my print and will not let me upgrade mu cloud storage. How do I bypass the print thing. Yes, I’m very old so I need simple please.

When you activated Touch ID, you would have had to create a passcode. If Touch ID does not work, it should fall back to the passcode request. You may have to go into Settings>Touch ID & Passcode and turn off Touch ID for iTunes & App store purchases.
