My keyboard shortcuts in news stopped working

In particular the arrow keys to go to next story. I've restarted, and all the basic troubleshooting.

iMac 27" 5K, macOS 10.15

Arrow keys stopped working.... My arrow keys have stopped working and I don't know why. I can still scroll Safari and Chrom with the slide bar but can not scroll using the arrows. How can I fix this?

addendum, this only happens in news+ when reading a magazine
