Actually you need to get to OS 10.6.6 "Snow Leopard" to have access to the Mac App Store, and that requires a disk.

Unfortunately, Apple no longer sells the disk but you can usually find one of sites like Amazon. I hesitate to recommend an auction site because I have seen far too many Mac system software disks grossly misrepresented in such venues. Make certain the disk is a full retail install disk and not the gray system install/restore disks the ship with a specific computer model. The often do not work on other models.

Amazon.com has Snow Leopard for about $46: Mac OS X Snow Leopard DVD-ROM Full Version In Retail Box.

However, the Mac model you purchased appears to be a 2007 24" iMac which is considered by Apple to be obsolete. You can upgrade the memory from 4 to 6 GB by purchasing a 4 GB module from :Crucial.com or MacSales.com and installing yourself. However, if you every need service on it you'll probably be out of luck.

I certainly wouldn't recommend putting much additional money into such an old iMac.
