Email scams

I get about 2 emails a week from Apple Support, To manage-services@appsupport.com. There is usually an attachment. I do not open it. The body of the letter tells me of a purchase I supposedly made but, when I check all of my accounts, no money has been taken. The support address at the bottom of the page is in Sydney, NSW.

Is this a scam, or phishing or whatever- is this something I should open and pay attention to?

  • Apple does not send such messages.
  • Apple would not warn of a pending account issue, giving you a deadline to fix the issue.
  • Apple does not include document, or PDF files to download.
  • Apple would not refer to you as Dear Customer, Dear Client, or anything other than the name on file for your account.
  • Apple would not have such horrible spelling or grammar.
  • Apple would not send a message to “Undisclosed Recipients”.

It is a phishing attempt. Do not respond. Do not divulge any personal or financial information. You can use the address below to forward the suspect email message, as an attachment to Apple.

If you provided your Apple ID and password at the bogus site, change your password immediately.

I was curious enough to do a search for this "apple pty ltd". Very interesting result:

https://www.bloomberg.com/profile/company/7724432Z:AU

They claim their website is apple.com

And, in this one, they say the place is a subsidiary of Apple:

So, is it or isn't it is the question? Or why are they sending out spam/fake order confirmations if they are legit?
