How to change incorrect email/Apple ID?

I’m setting up my brother’s new iphone 6s and when entering his email/Apple ID I accidentally omitted one letter, but didn’t realize my mistake until late in the process. Due to the incorrect email/Apple ID I’m unable to sign in to verify the password/account. How do I change the incorrect email/Apple ID to the correct email/Apple ID?

Can you remove the incorrect email/Apple ID by signing out?

If necessary, if he is the original owner, have him contact Apple ID Support. Apple Support will need to see the original purchase receipt with the serial number/paperwork.

Is your brother's new phone showing activation lock? Did he get if form Apple or an authorized Apple reseller. if not, the links below probably explain what has happened. He probably didn't know to heed the advice given below.

Before you buy an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from someone other than Apple or an authorized Apple reseller, make sure that the device is erased and no longer linked to the previous owner’s account.

And see: Activation Lock for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201365See

this heading Check for Activation Lock before you buy a device from someone else.
