Apple Music family plan question

Hi - Considering converting my subscription to a family plan, but my question is this. My family is one adult and one child. Other than my son's iPad, all of our devices would be linked to Apple Music via my account. So if I am out (one day, when we are once again allowed to be out), and listening to Apple Music on my phone, will my son be able to use stream Apple Music to an Alexa device that is logged into my account? I understand he definitely would be able to stream to a device that is logged in with his account, but I'm thinking more of the "family" devices in the home, like the stereo or the Alexas, which aren't really attributable to any one person. (I'd wonder this about the HomePod as well, but my understanding is that they are not subject to any such restrictions.). Thank you!

Hey SG8765,

If you have an individual plan you can play your Apple Music content on one device at a time.

If you have an Apple Music family subscription you can play Apple Music using the same Apple ID on up to six devices. So you can play it on your device while up to 5 other people can play it using other devices at the same time.

Take care.

Hi - unfortunately, this did not answer my question. I know how to play Apple Music on Alexa devices. What I’m asking is whether it can be played on two different devices logged into the same account. Like an Alexa at home, but my phone in my office. my phone is obviously logged into my account, but the Alexa’s in my house are also associated with my Apple account for purposes of Apple Music.

Hi - sorry, that’s not quite the question. It’s whether the devices can be associated with the same Apple ID - One problem we have is that when I am away from home, and I’m using Apple Music on my phone and someone else is using it on a device at home that, they can’t both stream at the same time. I don’t know if a family plan will actually fix that, if both devices are logged into my account. The Alexas are family devices - they don’t belong to any one person, so they are associated with my account because I’m the adult. But I still want them to be able to be used at the same time as I’m using my phone.

Your response says the different Apple IDs can use it at the same time, which is not quite the same thing, because each person has their own Apple ID.
