I am using Mail 12.1, OS 10.14.1, and my Smart Mailbox shows a grey badge with a "2". I assumed that I have 2 unread emails but I chose the option "Mark all messages read" and the badge still appears. Is there another reason why the "2" persists? Does it mean something other than unread emails? I've also tried quitting Mail and restarting the computer but the badge persists. Thank you for your help.
