I don't know how many times I do searches for documents, photos, or even apps that I know are on my Mac, yet they don't show up in searches! This is so very frustrating, and I don't know why this is happening, or how to fix it. I rebuild the Spotlight index, but that doesn't seem to help. Why might this be happening, and what can I do about it?

Thanks for that info, however, when I select in the Spotlight preferences to exclude searching email messages, it makes no matter, as I'll still get dozens of messages as results, no matter what I'm searching for. This has been an ongoing issue through various OS, and there seems nothing I can do to get it to work as it should. Any ideas?
