Mac message timestamps getting progressively farther ahead of real time

I recently updated my macOS to High Sierra (10.13.6). Ever since, my outgoing message timestamps have gotten progressively farther ahead of real time. It started out only being a few seconds off but got as bad as fifteen minutes, at which point several outgoing messages started showing as not delivered even though they were. Timestamps and message order are shown correctly on my iPhone.

I found a temporary solution, which is to reset my computer's system management controller (SMC). However, this only fixes the problem for at most a day or two before things begin to get noticeably out of sync again. What can I do to permanently fix this problem?

Thanks, I think we're down to 2 possibilities...

#1 Corrupted OS install

#2 some 3rd party App or kext interfering, might test this last one by...

Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at startup), does the problem occur in Safe Mode?

Seems to verify...

EtreCheck is a simple little app to display the important details of your system configuration and allow you to copy that information to the Clipboard. It is meant to be used with Apple Support Communities to help people help you with your Mac.

Pastebin is a good place to paste the whole report if you capture the URL while there…

Workable but harder for me to work with...the Note tool on the bottom of this editor's toolbar, as shown in the image, to copy and paste the output from EtreCheck. In a Reply before you click post, look for this to add longer texts...

You need to clear off at lest another 20-30 GB of space on your drive, have you emptied the Trash lately?

Uninstall Sophos per their directions... of course people don't like hearing that, then run etrecheck again ^ be sure Sophos didn;t leave any files.

Do you need Paragon for NTFS drives?

Delete these files & restart...

/Library/LaunchAgents/com.bomgar.bomgar-scc-sdcust-login-drone-5BEDA2D7.plist

~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.aviatainc.powerengage.helper.XRTK.plist

~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.macpaw.CleanMyMac3.Scheduler.plist

~ tilde indicates hidden Home Library.

Apple hid the Users' Library folders...

Method 1:

  1. From the Finder, select the Go menu at top of the screen, and choose Go to Folder.
  2. In the window that opens, enter ~/Library, and click Go.

After booting in Safe Mode and sending several texts back and forth, it does not appear this problem happened there. The timestamps on messages sent from Safe Mode did not change time, even after I booted my computer normally and went back to check the same messages. Messages sent from regular boot that had incorrect timestamps still showed these incorrect timestamps in Safe Mode.

I deleted that file and restarted both times; I don't know if it didn't work the first time or if it maybe came back. However, I did run EtreCheck again just now and check that Library folder, and that file did not appear.

I have not experienced any crashes since removing Sophos.

Forgive me but I don't know much about RAM, so I don't know what would be using so much.

Hmmm, was replying to someone else I think!???

Thanks,

Low disk space - This machine is running critically low on free hard drive space.

Still need to delete this & restart, it's not in the hidden user's Library, but at Root of the drive...

/Library/LaunchAgents/com.bomgar.bomgar-scc-sdcust-login-drone-5BEDA2D7.plist

We need to clear some files off...

OmniDiskSweeper shows you the files on your drive, largest to smallest, and lets you quickly Trash or open them.
