Ask to Buy - Request sent to wrong device

What do I do if the Ask to Buy request is being sent to the wrong device, like an old phone that we still have but is not my current device?

iPhone 8, iOS 13

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. I understand that the feature of, "Ask to Buy" is being sent to the wrong device.


Ask to Buy is a great feature to approve purchases in Family Sharing and I'll be happy to help.


On the device that you're no longer using, I recommend to sign out with the Apple ID account by going to Settings > tap on your name at the top > iTunes & App Stores > tap on your Apple ID > Sign Out.


Then, on the iPhone that you're currently using, please make sure that you're signed in with your Apple ID account. Also, please review the settings for Family Sharing. Here's a helpful article with the proper steps: If Ask to Buy isn't working
