Renting a movie

We are trying to rent a movie at home on our TV. It keeps asking for a 2 step verification which is extremely annoying. We get the 6 digits from our iphone but when we try to enter it on the Apple TV on our tv it goes back to ID, then password then does not have a box to enter the 6 digits. How do we do it? We just want to rent a movie at home... why can't it recognize we are at home at it is us wanting to rent and purchase??

AppleTV+ not able to enter verification code Just started my subscription with appleTV+. The appletv library shows all my old movies I’ve purchased. So I try to watch a TV show and it has me sign on with AppleID....my phone gets sent a verification code. But it doesn’t have anywhere on the appleTV app to have me enter the code. 2 step verification and apple tv We have an older model of Apple TV (10 years old). My most recent iphone forced me to enable 2 step verification in order to add a card to wallet. Ever since enabling 2 step verification, we get kicked out of apps on Apple TV (ie netflix, etc). At first we would get kicked out once or twice per movie. Now, we get kicked out every minute or two. When we get kicked out, I choose to allow the sign in (on my phone) and receive the verification code (on my phone). We also get a message from Apple TV that we need to enter the code, but when we select Ok under that message, it just pops out to the home screen with all the apps and never gives us an option to enter a verification code. I would disable the 2 step verification, but there doesn't seem to be an obvious way to do that on the iPhone 11. Can anyone help me find out where to enter the code on Apple TV or how to disable it on my iPhone 11?

This can happen on an Apple TV (2nd or 3rd generation). These models will need an adjusted sign-in procedure to function with two-factor authentication.

Enter your password (do not submit yet). Then manually request a new verification code. Add that code at the end of the password. Then submit.

Hi Urquart. Your instructions were perfect. We got in to rent the movie. So its been loading now for ten minutes and now I’m afraid if I get out I will charged and not see the movie.
