Activation Lock on i pad. I know the Apple ID for it ,but have forgotten the password use to set it up.

I have forgotten the password for it when I first set it up. It is asking for it,I don't remember it. So please can someone help me with this.

If you have forgotten your iPad passcode, or the iPad is disabled, you’ll need to follow this process: https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT211078

Changing your AppleID/iCloud password will not resolve any problem you may have in unlocking your iPad with the device passcode. However, knowledge of the AppleID password (which you have now seemingly changed) will be needed when completing the process to reset the device passcode using the linked procedure.
