Deleting a person from a text string

Does anyone know how to delete a person from a text string. The old way of sliding left and deleting does not work in the iPhone 11 or iPhone 11 Pro. Ideas?

Did you want to delete an entire text history from a person?

Open Messages ➔ Locate the Person's Name in the list of names ➔ Touch on that name and SWIPE LEFT which will reveal DELETE. Tap on DELETE. Still works fine.

If I did not understand your question correctly then please explain and clarify further. Thanks.

What happens when you Swipe Left on the new conversations that you try to delete? What do you see on the screen?

Before you answer that question, lets try a few things-

  1. Force Close all your apps as shown here ➔ How to Force Close Your Apps
  2. Open Settings ➔ Apple ID (Your Name at the top) ➔ iCloud ➔ Messages - Ensure that Messages is set to ON
  3. Finally, Force ReStart Your iPhone by-
  • Press and quickly release Volume UP
  • Press and quickly release Volume DOWN
  • Press AND Hold the SIDE button until an Apple logo appears (May take 20 seconds).

After the above see whether you can delete those conversations.

I went through different settings, even in Screen Time Restrictions, and was unable to duplicate what you are experiencing. I continue to feel that we may not exactly be talking about the same thing. Please see image below-

In the above image, the fist Text string from a person is in the process of being deleted. Touch the name of the person and while maintaining the touch SWIPE LEFT (From to right to left motion) and that should reveal DELETE.

Is the above image the correct depiction of what you are asking?

Hello,

I am now stumped as you are. Not sure what is missing that you cannot delete new text conversations. There is something going on with your family's new iPhones. Something that is common among your iPhones. I keep thinking of something in Screen Time Restrictions, however, I am unable to pinpoint it.

At this point, let's not waste time and effort on any more guesses. Your iPhones are less than a year old and therefore you are entitled to free Apple Phone Support as well as 1YR Limited warranty related repairs. Let's take advantage of that. I encourage you to contact ➔ Apple Support and get this thing resolved.
