Despite the measures to promote social distancing Tescos still maintaining a £30 limit for Apple Pay. Instead of using my fingerprint on my phone and making no contact I had to present my card and press the un-sanitized keypad! When I contacted Tesco they said they had their own version.
Tesco haven’t even updated the electronic payment to accept the increase in contactless payment to £45 yet !
Slow is not the word here UK major retailer and their systems are way behind and slow - BTW so are M&S.
When I use contactless or Apple Pay other than at Tesco/Esso garages try to use the self pay and split the bill is best advise
Their own version for Tesco banking involves a QR reader their app and so many useless steps including showing the cashier the result on you phone screen - Classic of banking systems crap IT design
For the most part many banks have tried these schemes over the recent times to attempt to keep YOUR details within theirs own information systems.
However since they don’t employ the on phone discrete security chip and token system imho are far LESS secure
They haven’t updated their point of sale software and company policies to accept the increase in contactless payment maximum allow amount yet .
