AirPod microphone

Microphone on AirPods wont work. Nobody can hear me. I have disconnected from my device and re paired to the phone, I have cleaned the microphone and taken all the steps. I have only used these to exercise in until I tried doing a conf call with them today for the first time and they arent working.
