apple care coverage

My mom has purchased me a new iphone because mine broke but was covered by apple care for 99$. I am receiving the same model as my broken phone but I was wondering if it was possible to upgrade my phone while in this process and with little cost?

Hmm, I would think that it would be difficult to do in the middle of the replacement process.

The best course of action would be to wait until you get the replacement phone, and then see this:

Turn the device you have into the one you want
