Cannot login into iMessage on Mac - error during authentication but works on iPhone

Hello,

I recently bout an iPhone 11 Pro Max and created apple id and used Messages app for quite some time. Two months back I got a Macbook Pro 2017 and I wanted to wire my Messages to be used on my mac. But I cannot login into messages, I always get: An error occurred during authentication.

I tried:

  • Logging in and logging out of my iPhone and my Mac and I got this on my iPhone:
  • Resetting NVRAM (not sure if that was a successful operation)
  • Adding more "contactable at" addresses (iPhone seems to instantly react and ask me to add the email)

I also saw that some people have on their iphone that there should be option to "enable messages on icloud" but it's missing.
