usb c cable has cracked,

Hi, i bought a macbook pro less than 12 months go and the usb c cable has cracked, right where it enters the mac. Would this be covered and would i be due a new one?

I have been trying o get through to the apple chat for about 2 hours so thought I might get some answers this way quicker.
