my ipad is disabled and says connect to itunes, i did and i don't know what to do now

My ipad says disabled, connect to Itunes. I went on my laptop and to Itunes. Then using the Apple cable, attached my Ipad to my computer. Nothing happens. When I check on device, it doesn't register that Ive attached my Ipad to my laptop. Help!

ipad is disabled because the incorrect passcode was entered too many times. Ive connected to itunes and turned off the ipad and tried to reconnect. Nothing is happening.
