iMessage on MacBook Pro

I need uninstall or do something about iMessage on my MacBook Pro -- I think I may have accidentally removed some part of the program, possible a kernel, and it no longer works.

Nothing so far that I've found online has helped. Thank you!

Not sure what happened but if you really think you removed some important files then you can simply reinstall the OS. You won't lose any files and your setup will remain in place. What happens during a simple reinstall is your System Folder is removed and replaced which contains any lost files for Apple apps.

DPJ,

I need to correct my post of earlier today:

The MacBook Pro iMessage now seems to be working better.

May I further impose expertise: do you know why my contacts on iMessage are listed with the prefix of "Maybe"?

For example, if you were in my contact list, iMessage would list you as: "Maybe: DPJ"

Thank you again!

Hank

I don't know if this is at all helpful, but I took this from an EtreCheckPro report I just did:

Virtual Memory Information:

    Free RAM: 18 MB

    Used RAM: 3.11 GB

    Cached files: 894 MB

    Available RAM: 912 MB

    Swap Used: 45 MB

Thanks a lot, I'm following your account here, it's really interesting and helpful.

So iMessage isn't working properly again although it's not as bad prior to OS re-install.

I think I need to free up the RAM I read in one of your other posts that minimum 25% free RAM is necessary.

So, I'm going to try and figure out the best way to do that and maybe it will work better then.

Thank you again,

Hank
