Can't import jpeg photos into iPad

Can't figure out why some of my scanned jpeg photos can be imported into my iPad through iTunes and others can't. the message I get is "holiday.jpeg was not copied to the iPod because it cannot be played on this iPod." Any ideas?

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.4)

Try changing the file name to "holiday.jpg". the suffix "jpeg" might be causing problems the standard suffix is "jpg".

I tried ,jpg and .jpeg, neither work.

Try opening the photo in Preview and resaving it as a JPEG there (Do a save as, not a save, and use a copy, since you'll be reapplying JPEG compression to the file). Does it work after that?

Tried your suggestion with no luck. Interesting, though, I emailed the same pics to myself, retrieved them on my iPad and was able to save them as an album.

I went one step further. I emailed one of the saved pics back to myself, retrieved it from my mac and tried importing it to the iPad and got the same error message as before.
