Can't open mail after upgrade to Catalina 10.15.4

Since upgrade to Catalina 10.15.4, cannot open Mail. Message says Mail must import mail, but then says import failed, "Make sure you have available space in your home folder and try again." 2017 iMac has 1.03 TB on HD, only 238 GB used; home folder shows size of 224 GB. ????
