Bulk delete email on new iPad Air

I just upgraded from the first iPad Air to the new one and used to be able to bulk delete emails by selecting the top one, holding down move and unticking the first email and then moving them to trash. I’ve tried to do it on the new iPad and nothing is happening.

Feeling desperate as I have 32000 emails and can’t bear the thought of ticking 1 by 1! I don’t have easy use of a laptop to do it on.

Thank you

iPad Air, iPadOS 13

While viewing the mailbox contents you wish to delete:

  • Select “Edit” from the upper right of the left window showing previews of each message
  • Choose “Select All”
  • Choose “Delete” at the bottom (or possibly “Trash” depending on the box you’re viewing)
  • Confirm your choice

I have found select all on the inbox but only if I want to delete the whole inbox. If I wanted to search for and delete 1000 emails inside my inbox ) from a certain person ) is there a way to do this without deleting the entire mailbox. I seem to loose the choice to select all after searching? Sorry if I’m being stupid and thank you again for your help!
