Because even though Avid knew for years that Apple was going to stop supporting 32 bit software, they sat on their hands and did nothing to update their apps to be prepared for the switch.

Per this link, Adobe's CS6 and CS5 suites have the same issue. The apps are mostly 64 bit, but have a fair number of support files that are still 32 bit. That makes them incompatible with Catalina.

Thanks for the infos... do you think they will ever fix this incompatibility in a short time?
No idea. I use the Adobe CC suite of image and video tools. You'll have to contact Avid and ask them what their estimated timeline is.
