how to downgrade 10.14.6 to 10.14.4
I installed the 10.14.6 combo update on my imac and now some of my software is not working so I want to uninstall the update and go back to 10.14.4. How can I do that? Thank you so much.

Just follow the steps here for "Restore both macOS and your files":

Choose a date for the backup prior to the update.
Specifically what software are you having problems with? p
Also have you run any "cleaning", "optimizing", "speed-up" or anti-virus apps?
Only way would be if you have a Time Machine backup with 10.14.4.
I do have a back up on an external hard drive, but not sure what to do. Is it possible to just uninstall the update? I also have the 10.14.4 installer, if that helps. thanks for the reply.
I can no longer open contacts, notebook, some excel files and some .doc files that I could open with .docx until I upgraded. I have not yet tried photoshop, adobe creative suite, etc.
