Cant verify my new phone

I broke my phone and insurance sent me a new one. All going ok until it said to verify my phone via icloud.


It asked for my passcode all good and then the passcode of the other device. But it will not accept the code of the other device which is correct !

I cannot turn off two factor authentication either.


I dont have any other devices to verifiy it on. How does this get solved?


Any ideas? I cant be the first ;-)

I hate to suggest account recovery, but I don't know what else to say at this point. Hold off for a while before you enter recovery. Maybe someone will see something I am not seeing.


Account Recovery—Two-Factor Authentication

 

“If you can’t sign in, reset your password, or receive verification codes, you can request account recovery to regain access to your account. Account recovery might take a few days or longer, depending on the specific account information you can provide to verify your identity. “After you request account recovery, you'll get an email with a confirmation of your request and the date and time of when you can expect to regain access.” … When the wait period is over, Apple sends you a text or automated phone call with instructions to regain access to your account. Follow the instructions to immediately regain access to your Apple ID.”

OK but I cant see these options.......

It asks me for the password for Apple ID = OK and accepts

It then asks for the Iphone Passcode that I use to unlock the phone = ok and accepts

It then asks to "Enter Passcode for your other Iphone". I enter it and is says verification failed. The other phone is not working and not in my possession.

So there is a option to click Forgot iphone passcode, it then says Choose Device, Use other device or reset encrypted data.

If I choose device it brings up a list of my last 3 phones. All had the same passcode.......... I enter the code and it claims the codes are wrong? I cant see any option to get a call/text etc

“Whenever you sign in with your Apple ID on a new device or browser, you'll confirm your identity with your password plus a six-digit verification code. There are a few ways you can get a verification code. You can use the code displayed on your trusted device, get a text or phone call, or generate a code from your trusted device [see the additional information in the article].” A trusted device is an iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch with iOS 9 and later or a Mac with OS X El Capitan and later that you've already signed into using two-factor authentication.
