Turn on character count on iMac 27"?

Is it possible to turn on character count on my iMac 27"? I have it OK on my iPhone 6S but cant find a way to enable it on my iMac. Have a similar problem on my iPad.

iMac 27", macOS 10.15

Hey there!

Character count on macOS is not available for the Messages application.

There may be some third-party software or Automations which you can find online which may do this for you. You could even copy and paste your messages into Pages or any other word processing application to count the characters before you send a message.

Hi thanks for your response.

I am trying to enable it on messaging on my iMac 27". I enabled it on iPhone but not iPad or iMac.

Which software are you looking at enabling character count on?

If you are referring to character counts in the Pages application, you can see Show word count and other statistics in Pages on Mac - Apple Support for help.
