Relocated Item called swapfile0

Hi,

After putting it off for quite some time, I finally downloaded macOS Catalina. When it downloaded, I saw a new folder called Relocated Items. I opened it and apparently its for suspicious files or something. Then, I saw a folder called 'vm' in it, and I opened and saw a file called swapfile0. I'm not sure what this is, and I don't want to open it. I also have been noticing a lot of my accounts being hacked into recently so I think my computer might have a trojan. What is this and is it safe? Please reply asap thanks :)

Just drag it to the trash and empty it.

It is completely harmless. "vm" stands for "virtual memory".

And a swapfile is a file used to save part of the contents of memory to disk when the system needs to allocate that memory for something else.

When you are using several applications at the same time and they require more memory than is physically installed, your OS will swap some of it to disk. That is perfectly normal and you do not have to interact with it directly. For some reason one of these files was left over from the previous system.

Nothing to worry about.
