My mac defaults to yahoo as search engine instead of safari... help

I can't seen to reset my mac to use Safari as its search engine. It uses yahoo??I go to preferences, and Safari isn't an option?

Safari is a browser, not a search engine. In Safari/Preferences/Search, you should see the search engine choices as shown in the screen shot below.
